Rishi Sunak could secure a post-Brexit deal for Northern Ireland by the weekend, according to reports.
It is claimed the Prime Minister spoke to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Friday night and further talks are planned to seal the deal as early as Sunday.
Arrangements are in place for the UK and EU to agree on the deal as early as Sunday, before it is presented to Parliament on Monday, The Telegraph reports.
Mr Sunak is planning to publish the draft agreement, which will include rules for Northern Ireland, known as the protocol, with or without the endorsement of the country’s Democratic Unionist Party, according to The Times.
It is also claimed he faces a direct clash with Tory Eurosceptics, who have warned that he risks “civil war”.
