One year on from the start of the war in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a rallying cry vowing that 2023 will be “the year of our victory”.

Ukraine is marking the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion, with the UK set to join allies in pledging to stand with the war-torn country for as long as is needed.

At a meeting of G7 leaders Prime Minister Sunak is expected to urge other nations to supply longer-range weapons to Kyiv, while also repeating his offer of British support to countries able to provide fighter jets.

Mr Zelensky has met Western leaders in recent weeks as he urges allied countries to ramp up weapon supplies with Russia expected to mount a renewed offensive.
