Season 2 of Sex/Life only arrived on March 2 but already fans are looking ahead to the possibility of a third season.
Creator Stacy Rukeyser has described it as “a big, bold, unapologetic exploration of female desire, and a thrilling chance to tell the truth about our lives and the choices we all make in relationships, family, career and identity”.
But the finale of this season’s six episode drop has left viewers wondering if this is the end of the road for Sex/Life.
We take a look at the likely future of the show and where it could go from here.
Will there be Sex/Life season 3?
Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied there will be a third outing for the show.
Inspired by the novel 44 Chapters about 4 Men by BB Easton, the series was launched by Netflix in June 2021 with eight episodes.
It was renewed for a second season in September and this was released on the streaming service on 2 March.
No announcement has been made about plans for a third, although speculation has been rife that the ending of the second season precludes a third.
One fan posted on Twitter: “Because of how it ended, I highly doubt that there will be a season 3. I wish there was more to the story but maybe there just isn’t.”
But there is clearly demand for the saga to continue, after viewers binge-watched the second season in a day.
One wrote: “Season 2 of sex/life came out today on Netflix and I finished the whole season today so can season 3 come out tomorrow please?”
While another said: “If we don’t get a season 3 of Sex/Life I am going to be so upset.
“I want more on Brad and Billies life together after the get married!”
Which cast members are likely to return?
Season 3 could see some fresh faces on the scene nut the main ones who would be expected to return are: Sarah Shahi as Billie Connelly, Mike Vogel as Cooper Connelly, Adam Demos as Brad Simon and Margaret Odette as Sasha Snow.
Also likely to be in the frame are newcomer Cleo Anthony as Sasha’s husband, Kam, and Hudson, played by Phoenix Reich.
Cooper’s best friend Devon (Jonathan Sadowski) may also make a return as would Billie’s friend Trina (Amber Goldfarb).
But Billie’s ex, Majid, played by Darius Homayoun, look a less likely candidate for a return to the show following the happy ending of season 2.
What may happen next?
Season 2 appeared to tie up a lot of loose ends with couples waltzing off into the sunset.
Both Billie and Brad and Sasha and Kam made it official while Cooper also appeared to have new marital plans with Emily.
Whether all this actually happens and what the future holds for each couple could still be explored.
And with Billie and Brad set to start a family, happily ever after may not be as straightforward as it seems.
