The Government has been warned that its plans to clampdown on migration across the Channel are unworkable.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has vowed to end “immoral” illegal migration, with new legislation set to place a duty on the Home Secretary to remove “as soon as reasonably practicable” anyone who arrives on a small boat.
Migrants who arrive in the UK illegally would be sent either to Rwanda or a “safe third country”.
Labour’s Wes Streeting has said the Government’s upcoming small boats legislation is “just the latest in a long line of unworkable gimmicks”.
