BBC series This is Going to Hurt and The Responder are leading in this year’s Bafta TV awards, with each of them getting six nominations in a contest described as a “celebration of creative excellence”.

Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan will be announcing the winners during a ceremony at 7pm on 14 May. The world-famous event will be streamed on BBC One and iPlayer.

The BBC is the clear leader ahead of the ceremony this year with a total of 81 nominations, while Channel 4 second with 33 and Netflix and ITV with 24 and 19, respectively.

A total of 128 programmes received nominations across TV and craft for the prestigious award, which celebrates the best of TV last year. The Bafta Television Craft Awards take place on Sunday 23 April.

Bafta CEO, Jane Millichip, described the selection from the record volume of entries as a display of the “fantastic strength and depth in programming and talent in 2022”.
