Former US president Donald Trump is to be indicted by a grand jury in New York over a hush money payment made to the adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
This is the first time that a former president of the US has been charged with a criminal offence. It has been reported that he is facing up to 30 counts of business fraud.
In a long statement, Mr Trump said he was “completely innocent” and described the indictment as “political persecution and election interference at the highest level in history”.
